Vítkov town lies in the diverse terrain of Vítkov highlands, a part of Nízký Jeseník mountains. The average altitude is 480 m and the highest peak is Horka hill (603 m) located upon Klokočov village (circa 2 km far from Vítkov).

Remarkable surrounding landscape is dramatically divided by two rather deep valleys of rivers Moravice and Odra. In Vítkov surroundings, there are several tourist routes. The most favourite route leads on both sides of Moravice river, from Kružberk reservoir through Jánské Koupele and Podhradí to Hradec nad Moravicí. Regarding tourism, Vítkov area is very attractive. The services (e.g. accommodation) keep improving in order to satisfy needs of increasing number of visitors; due to which, the population of Vítkov multiplies in summer time. In relation to unique landscape values and rare flora and fauna species (not yet completely explored), Vítkov area is a subject to a scientific interest. Also, the occurrence of Moravice grey slate and a number of slate quarries in the past as well as at present, should be mentioned here.

Arts and culture play an important part in the life of Vítkov's citizens. Amateur theatre tradition began in September 1945 when the Theatre Club of Petr Bezruč was founded. The club came 2nd in 'Jiráskův Hronov', a festival of amateur theatre, in 1948. In 1969 was founded a theatre company which work surprisingly until present. The Department of Culture of Vítkov Municipality organizes concerts and exhibitions in collaboration with schools and special interest clubs. Their work is comparable to much larger cultural centres.
The establishment of the Information centre Vítkov was approved by the decision of Vítkov Municipality, no. 726/28 from 29th August 2001. After the necessary preparations, the Centre started its work on 1st January 2002, established in the Municipality building in Wolkerova street, on the ground floor. At present, the information centre office is located on the ground floor of the Vítkov Municipality;
